How the draw works
Type everyone taking part, one name per line. If some people shouldn't draw each other, like couples or housemates, add them under Never pair these. Press Draw names and you get one private link per person.
The draw happens in your browser. Nobody can draw their own name, the pairs you listed never meet, and if you tick No two people draw each other, you won't get two people simply swapping gifts.
Send each link on its own, by text, chat or e-mail. When someone opens their link, they see a short greeting and a button. Only after they tap it does the name appear, so it's safe to open with others around.
Planning a gift exchange
Agree on three things before you draw: a budget, a date and whether gifts should follow a theme. Put them in the budget, date and note boxes and they appear on everyone's private page, so nobody has to scroll back through the group chat.
A budget that everyone can afford matters more than a big one. Many offices and families settle on a small fixed amount and a rule like something handmade, a book or something to eat.
Couples, families and remote groups
Couples and people who live together usually swap presents anyway, so add them under Never pair these. For a family exchange you can do the same for parents and their own children.
For a remote team, ask everyone to share a delivery address with their Secret Santa privately, or agree on digital gifts such as an e-book or a voucher.
Keeping it secret
Send each link in a private message, not in the group chat. The reveal page shows a greeting first and only shows the name after a tap, so people can open it at their desk without someone reading over their shoulder.
Questions
Can the organizer see who got whom?
Not unless they press Show all pairs. Each match is packed inside its link in a scrambled form, so it can't be read at a glance. It isn't encryption, though: someone who really wanted to could decode a link that isn't theirs. Ask people to open only their own.
Are the names sent anywhere?
No. The draw runs on this page, and the match travels in the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to a server. We don't store names or pairs.
Someone lost their link. What now?
Open this page again in the same browser. Your last draw is still here, so you can copy that person's link again without drawing again.
How do I keep couples apart?
Add each couple on its own line under Never pair these, for example Anna + Ben. You can use +, a comma, / or & between the two names.
Why does it say no draw fits?
Your rules leave someone with nobody to buy for. This happens with small groups and many pairs, for example three people where one is paired with both others. Remove a pair or add more people.
